Background

Jamie Daves is an experienced entrepreneur and executive focused on building systems of truth, trust, and transformation to advance well-being and security for people in the United States and around the world. He works as a Venture Partner at the health-focused venture capital firm Lifeforce Capital and serves as a Senior Advisor or Board Member to the health data company Smart Health Network and other startups. He is the Managing Director and Board Member of the Institute for New Economic Thinking, a global economic think tank and media platform based in New York City, and is the Co-founder and Board Member of The Neurorights Foundation, the leading brain data research and advocacy organization in the world.  

In the past, Jamie co-founded the pioneering global television company Current TV with Vice President Al Gore which sold for $450M; and worked in venture capital at City Light Capital and Platform Equity where he focused on Seed and Series A investments in the media and education markets including in the now public learning company 2U.

He has a deep background in the transformation of journalism and digital media, helping to launch ventures such as House of Nonfiction, The Wrap and ImpactAlpha and consulting to organizations such as National Public Radio.

Jamie has been active in the public and social sectors including serving as a Special Assistant to Chairman William Kennard of the Federal Communications Commission, teaching as an adjunct instructor at The New School, co-founding organizations such as the World Liberty Congress, the Center for New Data, and the Bay Area venture philanthropy organization the Full Circle Fund, and working on campaigns including Clinton/Gore 1992.

Jamie has an MBA from Stanford University and a BA from the University of Pennsylvania. He is a frequent speaker and interviewer of public figures such as Vice President Kamala Harris, Gov. Gavin Newsom, Anderson Cooper, Ed Norton, Tom Gruber, Strauss Zelnick and Douglas Rushkoff. He has appeared in media such as The Wall Street Journal, MSNBC and Newsweek; and his recent work has been featured in the Washington Post, Fast Company and other outlets. He appears in the documentary film directed by Werner Herzog called "Theater of Thought" and has spoken frequently on the future of technology at the Toronto Film Festival, the BrainMind Summit and other venues.
